Jobtailor seeks a software engineer to develop and maintain hardware automation solutions for the life sciences sector. You will use Structured Text and TypeScript to build reliable software, apply TDD, and participate in refactoring for quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience in life sciences or highly regulated industries (e.g., medical devices).
  • Strong skills in clean, idiomatic, testable code in Structured Text and TypeScript.
  • Understanding of OOD and Functional Programming concepts.
  • Experience with TDD, pair programming, and CI/CD with GitHub/GitHub Actions.
  • Understanding of software and hardware verification/validation processes.
  • Experience with DevOps tools and continuous delivery.
  • Strong problem solving, attention to detail, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain software/firmware for life sciences hardware automation.
  • Apply Test Driven Development to ensure robust code.
  • Co-own code quality and refactor for improvements.
  • Leverage AI to boost productivity while ensuring validation and traceability.
  • Conduct software verification and validation to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure software security and best practices.

  • Adhere to FDA CFR21 Part 11, CE, ISO 9001, and Agile GAMP5 guidelines.

Job description

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience
  • Experience in the life sciences industry or a comparable highly regulated industry, such as medical devices
  • Strong experience writing clean, idiomatic, and testable code in Structured Text and TypeScript
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented Design and Functional Programming
  • Experience with Test Driven Development, pair programming, and CI/CD workflows using GitHub and GitHub Actions
  • Understanding of software and hardware verification and validation processes
  • Experience with continuous delivery using DevOps tools and methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Appreciation for good UX design and a customer-oriented mindset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and teamwork abilities
  • Experience working remotely in a highly skilled team
  • Experience with Scrum, including breaking down, slicing, and estimating work, writing user stories, setting expectations, and keeping commitments
  • Preferred: experience with Structured Text testability, Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 and ADS, Debian and Beckhoff Linux, Python, Vue3, RXDB, and Electron
  • Full working rights in country of residence, either New Zealand or Australia
  • Working visa sponsorship is not provided
