Taylor Construction is seeking a Site Manager On-Site to lead on our residential project in Northland. You will oversee all on-site activities, coordinate contractors, and manage resources to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality construction outcomes.
The role requires strong plan reading, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. A NZ Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4) and a Class 1 NZ driver’s license are essential, with 5–6 years in site management highly desirable.

The Site Manager On-Site is a critical operational role dedicated to overseeing and driving the successful delivery of our project. You will act as the primary site leader, responsible for coordinating all on-site activities, managing contractors, and controlling resources to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality construction. You will work closely with Project Managers to provide essential progress updates and prioritise daily tasks to meet all project deadlines and milestones.
Key responsibilities
Ensure sites are 100% ready for subcontractors, with required materials and samples on hand
Receive, check, and inventory deliveries against dockets for quantity and quality
Hold weekly team meetings to set targets aligned with labour schedules and the program
Lead on-site Health & Safety by maintaining safety boards, conducting inductions/toolbox talks, and reporting incidents
Read and interpret all plans, engineering specs, and updates; manage document control
Prepare materials and instructions ahead of time; communicate tasks clearly, using sketches and feedback where needed
Prioritise site tasks in line with project deadlines and milestones
Conduct QA inspections, manage defect rectification, and organise labour as needed
Raise and track Purchase Orders (POs) as requested or needed to ensure they are completed accurately and in full, following the appropriate approval process
Book and manage building inspections
About you
Full NZ working rights and a Full Class 1 NZ driver's license is essential
NZ Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4) and First Aid Certification
Min. 5-6 years Site Manager experience or similar essential
Possession of a Hilti Powder-Actuated Tool licence, along with proven proficiency in the safe use of power and hand tools, is desirable
Strong plan reading and interpretation skills, and a high attention to detail
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
