Roofing Industries Ltd, Christchurch, is seeking a Site Leader to run our Christchurch branch, overseeing sales, margin, operations and people.

You will ensure safety, efficiency and profitability, lead daily safety walks, manage pricing and customer relationships, and drive growth through supplier partnerships.

This role offers a hands-on leadership opportunity within the Vulcan Steel Group with a focus on delivering excellent service and long-term stability.

Qualifications

• Strong background in distribution operations and B2B with a track record of growing sales and margin.
• Hands-on experience managing P&L and balance sheets, understanding what drives returns.
• Stock management expertise to maintain availability and minimise obsolescence.
• Proven leadership in warehouse and/or sales environments; manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Genuine commitment to customer service and long-term relationships.
• Experience leading larger teams, including talent development and succession planning.

Responsabilités

• Manage P&L, sales, margin, and expenses for the site.
• Set targets and take corrective action when performance slips.

• Act as relationship manager for key customers; resolve escalated issues.
• Build supplier relationships and local marketing/procurement plans.
• Spot cross-sell opportunities and grow referral networks.
• Lead daily safety walks, Toolbox Talks, and H&S committee meetings.
• Coach your team on leadership, selling skills, and problem-solving.
• Support talent attraction, development, and succession planning on site.

Roofing Industries is a New Zealand manufacturer and supplier of metal roofing and cladding products, proudly supporting roofers and builders nationwide.

We're looking for a Site Leader to run our Christchurch branch.

You'll own the day-to-day performance of the site — sales, margin, operations, and people — making sure everything runs safely, efficiently, and profitably.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing P&L, sales, margin, and expenses for the site
• Setting targets and taking quick corrective action when performance slips
• Running operations to hit DIFOT, stock availability, and safety standards
• Managing pricing, margin protection, and follow-up on open quotes
• Acting as relationship manager for key customers, including resolving escalated issues
• Building supplier relationships and local marketing/procurement plans
• Spotting cross-sell opportunities and growing referral networks
• Leading daily safety walks, Toolbox Talks, and H&S Committee meetings

What you’ll bring

• A team player who brings initiative and resourcefulness to problem‑solving
• Tertiary qualification preferred; minimum 5 years in a sales/operations leadership role in a multi-site network
• A valid work visa or the right to work in New Zealand
• Able to pass a pre‑employment medical and drug and alcohol test
