Job summary

Metalcraft Roofing Whangārei is seeking an Operations Manager to lead a manufacturing and distribution team. You will report to the Branch Manager and be responsible for planning production and dispatch to meet customer requirements on time and to specification.

The role emphasizes coaching the team, maintaining safety and quality, and collaborating with sales to adapt to priorities. Experience in steel, roofing or building materials is highly regarded.

OPERATIONS MANAGER METALCRAFT ROOFING WHANGĀREI - $90,000 to $110,000 + vehicle

Overview

A fantastic opportunity to lead manufacturing and distribution at the Whangarei Branch of Metalcraft Roofing a longstanding market leading manufacturer and supplier of steel roofing, cladding and rainwater products to the residential and commercial building markets.

Your role

Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will lead a manufacturing team of five and a distribution team of three.

Your focus is clear: a safe, productive operation that delivers the right products, in full, on time and to specification.

You will take responsibility for:

• Planning production and dispatch so people, equipment and materials are used effectively.
• Leading, coaching and developing your team, with clear expectations and accountability.
• Maintaining quality standards and making safety part of how the team works every day.
• Working closely with sales to meet customer requirements and respond when priorities change.
• Improving productivity and reducing waste, errors, and avoidable delays.

• Someone who stays close to the work, gives people clear direction, and follows through.
• You will set the standard, address issues early, and help the team solve problems.
• When the pressure comes on, you will keep people focused, and the work moving.
• You will understand that good operational performance is measured by DIFOTIS.

• A practical understanding of safety, quality, and productivity.
• Clear communication and confidence using systems to plan work and monitor performance.

Experience in steel, roofing, or building materials would be highly regarded. We would also welcome a high performing supervisor ready to take on broader responsibility.
