About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Site Engineer to oversee the execution of road and earthworks construction projects in the Queenstown, Eastern Cape region. This role is crucial for ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards. You will be responsible for managing on-site activities, coordinating with contractors and subcontractors, and ensuring adherence to engineering designs and specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong practical understanding of construction methods, site management, and quality control for civil infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on role requiring significant on-site presence and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all on-site construction activities related to roads, earthworks, and associated civil works.
• Ensure strict adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate and manage the work of subcontractors and site personnel.
• Conduct daily site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for the project management team.
• Perform quantity surveying and manage site-based measurements for payment purposes.
• Identify and resolve site-related issues and technical challenges promptly.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a Site Engineer or Construction Engineer, with a focus on roads and earthworks.
• Proven experience in managing site operations and construction teams.
• Strong understanding of road construction techniques, soil compaction, and materials testing.
• Familiarity with construction contracts and project management principles.
• Excellent knowledge of health and safety regulations on construction sites.
• Good communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
