Job summary

Ghella is seeking a Site Engineer to support the Herne Bay project in Auckland, a 1.7 km wastewater tunnel and associated shafts and connections. You will work with Project Engineers and Supervisors across site activities, documentation and resource management.

The role emphasises safety, quality and environmental plans, ITPs and filing of project information, while maintaining clear communication and a proactive team approach.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as Site Engineer in civil infrastructure.
• Degree in engineering, construction management or equivalent.
• Site administration experience, including compiling ITPs.
• Proficient in MS Project and Excel.
• Positive, pro-active teamwork and robust planning skills.
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside Project Engineers and Supervisors on site activities and documentation.
• Assist in resource management and tracking of claims.
• Participate in site meetings and record detailed notes.
• Document and file all project information.
• Monitor subcontractor, supplier and plant dockets.
• Compile incoming material certification records, ITPs and checklists.
• Assist in safety, quality and environmental plans including ITPs and purchasing plans.
• Develop and maintain site registers.

Job description

The Herne Bay Collector is located adjacent to the Waitematá Harbour, the new infrastructure will significantly reduce wastewater and stormwater overflows into the environment. The project consists of a 1.7km-long, 2.1m-diameter wastewater tunnel, seven main shafts, three intermediate shafts, overflow connections to existing engineered overflow points, and a control chamber at Pt Erin Park in Auckland. This chamber will connect the Herne Bay Collector into the Central Interceptor system, forming part of Auckland’s wider wastewater network.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SOFT SKILLS:

• Minimum 3 years' experience working as a Site Engineer in civil infrastructure
• Degree qualification in engineering, construction management or equivalent
• Site administration experience, including the compiling of ITP's
• Proficient in MS Project and excel
• Positive and pro-active approach toward teamwork
• Sound planning and organisational skills
• Progressive thinking and robust project administration capabilities
• Communication that is clear, concise and easily understood both in written and verbal form

DUTIES:

• As a Site Engineer, you will work alongside the Project Engineers and Supervisors across a range of site activities, documentation, resource management as well as tracking and identification of claims
• Participate at site meetings and record detailed notes
• Documentation and filing of all project information
• Monitor, track and assess subcontractor, supplier and plant dockets
• Compilation of incoming material certification records, ITPs and Checklists
• Assist with the monitoring of works to ensure that they are carried out in line with all relevant designs, specifications, methodologies
• Assist in the preparation of safety, quality and environmental plans, including safe work method statements and construction method statements, ITPs, and purchasing plans
• Develop and maintain site registers
