Job summary

Ghella Limited in Auckland is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join the Herne Bay Collector tunnelling project near Point Erin in the CBD.

You will plan, coordinate and monitor engineering packages, manage safety, quality, environment, time and budget, and prepare plans, SWMS and construction programmes.

The role requires a Civil/Construction Engineering degree and at least five years' experience on large-scale civil projects, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Construction Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as Project Engineer in the civil infrastructure sector.
• Experience with wastewater infrastructure and reinforced concrete structures preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Project and Excel.
• Health and Safety focused with knowledge of regulations and standards.
• Clear and concise communication in written and spoken form.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, manage and coordinate packages of work.
• Manage safety, quality, environmental, time and budget requirements.
• Prepare safety, quality and environmental plans including SWMS, ITPs, Risk Assessments and cost control.
• Prepare programming of site activities.
• Liaise with client, stakeholders and service providers.
• Review drawings, instructions and documentation.
• Monitor works to ensure safe execution with temporary works designs and methodologies.
• Capture progress using InEight and Aconex.
• Monitor subcontractor, supplier and plant/equipment.

An incredible opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our newest tunnelling project, the Herne Bay Collector, located at Point Erin in Auckland’s’ CBD.

About the project

The Herne Bay Collector is located adjacent to the Waitematā Harbour, the new infrastructure will significantly reduce wastewater and stormwater overflows into the environment. The project consists of a 1.7km-long, 2.1m-diameter wastewater tunnel, seven main shafts, three intermediate shafts, overflow connections to existing engineered overflow points, and a control chamber at Pt Erin Park in Auckland. This chamber will connect the Herne Bay Collector into the Central Interceptor system, forming part of Auckland’s wider wastewater network.

About the role

• Plan, organise, manage and coordinate the successful completion of allocated packages of work, and management of teams
• Manage the safety, quality, environmental, time and budget requirements of packages
• Preparation of safety, quality and environmental plans, including SWMS, construction method statements, Risk Assessments, ITPs, Cost Control/Forecasting and Purchasing Plans
• Preparation of programming of site activities
• Liaise and coordinate with our client, stakeholders and service providers
• Review and check all drawings, instructions and documentation
• Monitor works to ensure that they are carried out in a safe manner in line with all relevant temporary works designs, specifications and, methodologies
• Regularly capture progress of works using InEight and Aconex
• Monitor, track and assess subcontractor, supplier and plant and equipment

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Construction Engineering or a related field
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in Project Engineering in the civil infrastructure sector, preferably in large scale projects
• Proven track record of successfully managing engineering projects
• Construction site administration, including the compilation of ITP's and continual monitoring
• Experience with wastewater infrastructure and reinforced concrete structures preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in project management software and engineering tools
• Health and Safety focused, with knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards
• Proficient in MS Project and Excel and strong administration capabilities
• Positive and pro-active approach toward teamwork
• Innovative thinker and committed to continuous improvement
• Good communicator, clear, concise and easily understood both in written and verbal form
