Job description

INTEC Energy Solutions is a global renewable energy Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) company delivering utility-scale Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and associated infrastructure across more than 16 countries.

With a growing portfolio across Australia and New Zealand, we are looking for an experienced Site Construction Manager to lead the day-to-day construction delivery of a landmark utility-scale solar project in the Auckland region.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Australian construction professional to bring your expertise to a major international project, experience living and working in New Zealand, and help deliver a project that will contribute to the country's renewable energy future.

Based north of Auckland, you will be the key construction leader on site, overseeing civil, mechanical and electrical works and coordinating subcontractors, site teams and project interfaces. Working closely with the Senior Project Manager and wider engineering, commercial, procurement, HSE and project controls teams, you will ensure construction progresses safely, efficiently and to programme.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on site leadership role for a Construction Manager who enjoys being close to delivery, solving problems and bringing multiple disciplines together.

You will:

  • Lead the day-to-day construction delivery across civil, mechanical and electrical works, including earthworks, piling, racking, module installation, trenching, cabling and HV/MV infrastructure.
  • Develop and drive short-term construction programmes, resources and priorities, identifying risks and delays early and implementing recovery strategies.
  • Drive and manage subcontractors and site teams, monitoring performance, productivity, quality and compliance against project requirements.
  • Coordinate interfaces between civil, mechanical and electrical works to ensure construction sequencing supports key project and energisation milestones.
  • Champion a strong HSEQ culture, ensuring compliance with project requirements, New Zealand legislation, relevant standards and INTEC's HSQE framework.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, engineering, commercial and procurement teams to resolve site issues and maintain project momentum.
  • Support commissioning, punch-list close-out and project handover, ensuring construction and quality documentation is complete.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the client, contractors, consultants, landowners and other key project stakeholders.
About You

You are an experienced Site or Construction Manager with a strong background in power, renewable energy or major infrastructure construction and the confidence to lead a complex project from site.

To meet the requirements of the role, you will bring:

  • At least 5 years' professional construction management experience on power plant projects.
  • Experience as a Site or Construction Manager on at least one completed utility-scale solar power project
  • Strong experience managing multidisciplinary construction activities across civil, mechanical and electrical disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead subcontractors and site teams and deliver projects safely, efficiently, to programme and within budget.
  • Strong understanding of construction planning, scheduling, productivity, quality, HSEQ and site coordination.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline is preferred; however, relevant trade qualifications combined with strong supporting construction management experience will be considered.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management capability.
  • Fluent English and the ability to communicate effectively across a diverse project environment.
Why Make the Move?
  • Lead construction delivery on a flagship New Zealand renewable energy project.
  • Take your Australian construction experience across the Tasman and step into a major international project.
  • Work on a utility-scale solar project of significant scale and complexity, leading multiple construction disciplines.
  • Join a fast-growing international EPC business with a significant pipeline across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Build international project experience while working alongside experienced engineering, construction, commercial and project professionals.
  • Enjoy genuine career opportunities as INTEC continues to expand across the region.
Ready for a Change?

If you're an experienced Australian Site or Construction Manager who's ready to do something different, this could be the opportunity to make the move.

Bring your construction leadership experience across the Tasman, take on a flagship renewable energy project and experience what it's like to live and work in New Zealand.
