The opportunity!
Based at our successful Christchurch manufacturing plant, we are looking for an experienced Shift Supervisor to lead our afternoon shift, working 2.00pm - 11.00pm, Monday - Friday.
This is a hands‑on leadership role where you will take ownership of the day‑today running of the shift, making decisions, solving problems and ensuring our people and production perform safely and efficiently.
Our ideal candidate will have leadership experience, a natural ability to influence and motivate others to do their best everyday as well as be results driven and a hunger to succeed. We are a fast paced made to order business with tight lead times. You will have a knack for balancing operational commitments and the needs of the customer so that neither is compromised and you will achieve this through the running of a smooth operation.
What you're there to do:
Take ownership of the day‑to‑day performance and operation of the afternoon shift
Lead decision making throughout the entirety of your shift, regardless of labour, machinery and other operational issues
Drive production throughput, quality and on‑time delivery
Identify and resolve issues quickly
Lead, coach and develop team members to achieve high performance
Set clear expectations and create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Work collaboratively with other departments and shifts to ensure a smooth end‑to‑end operation
Skills, characteristics & experience you'll bring:
3 years minimum experience of leading a team within a manufacturing or production environment. Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence, motivate the team
Results focus and a drive to achieve production targets
The confidence to make decisions and take ownership of outcomes.
A hands‑on approach and willingness to get involved int eh operation
A trade or degree qualifications in manufacturing or engineering is desirable however not essential
A continuous improvement mindset, with demonstrated knowledge or experience applying CI principles
