Job summary

Architectural Glass Products in Waikato is seeking a manufacturing supervisor to lead an automated team, uphold safety and environmental standards, and drive continuous process improvements. You will coach operators, enforce quality/excellence, and build a culture of ownership and accountability across shifts.

The role requires strong communication across levels, experience in a highly automated setting, and a commitment to developing talent while maintaining 5S/TPM practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years leading teams within a highly automated manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to coach and develop individuals within a high paced manufacturing environment.
  • Detail oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Have a respectful and humble persona constantly working to hire, retain and develop the right talent.
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate across multiple levels and departments.

Responsibilities

  • Drive to ensure that human safety and the environment is always proactively protected and is the leading priority within the business.
  • Ensure that all health and safety guide lines are followed and that all the correct PPE is worn and procedures followed.
  • Reinforce and nurture the company culture in daily interactions and decision making.
  • Provide consistent direction, coaching and feedback to operators on their performance.
  • Maintain and enforce the standards of manufacturing excellence to provide stability to the process.
  • Develop a team that has a high level of ownership and accountability and that understands what they are trying to achieve, how they achieve it and why it's important.
  • Conduct performance appraisal with operators to encourage improvement and growth with each individual.
  • Ensure operators are trained appropriately and the highest quality and operational standards are maintained and where possible exceeded.
  • Development of process improvements by working with other departments and subject matter experts.
  • Ensuring TPM and 5S systems are developed, implemented and maintained.
  • Provide direction and leadership in the resolution of technical, production-related and quality problems to assure completion.

Architectural Glass Products (AGP) is a state-of-the-art glass manufacturing business focused on supplying high-quality products with exceptional service to its customers. AGP operates out of a custom-built world-class facility in Cambridge, just 15 minutes from Hamilton, providing Insulated Glass Units to its client base. AGP is part of the wider APL Group, the market leader of window and doors systems in New Zealand.

Key Functions and Responsibilities

Qualifications and/or experience required

Bachelor's degree is preferred. Absent a degree, the individual needs to have additional, related leadership experience that demonstrates the acquired skills and abilities.

Preferred Skills
  • Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise work
  • Knowledge of problem solving disciplines, including 8D, DMAIC, Design of Experiments, etc
  • Knowledge of process control tools, including Control plans and PFMEA
  • Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing knowledge preferred
  • Ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative
