Job summary

Arthur D Riley Co Ltd (ADR) invites applications for a Senior Field Service Technician based in Christchurch to deliver advanced diagnostics, maintenance and repair solutions across the South Islands. You will lead the Field Services team, mentor apprentices, and ensure high-quality service delivery, safety, and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 5 qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field (EST qualification preferred).
• Proven experience in industrial electronics, automation, and remote monitoring systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
• Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Willingness to travel throughout New Zealand and work across a variety of environments, from workshops and offices to farms and remote field sites.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of service delivery across a range of customer sites, ensuring equipment and systems operate reliably and efficiently.
• Develop and manage preventative maintenance programmes.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to technicians and apprentices.
• Work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve complex issues.
• Champion safe work practices and identify opportunities to improve operational processes, service quality and system performance.

About the Role

As a Senior Field Service Technician, you'll provide expert technical support to customers across the South Islands power and agricultural sectors. You'll be the technical lead within ADR's Field Services team, delivering advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repair solutions while supporting the development of less experienced technicians.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you'll take ownership of service delivery across a range of customer sites, ensuring equipment and systems operate reliably and efficiently. You'll develop and manage preventative maintenance programmes, provide technical leadership and mentoring to technicians and apprentices, and work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve complex issues. You'll also champion safe work practices and identify opportunities to improve operational processes, service quality, and overall system performance.

About You

You are a technically skilled problem solver who enjoys working in diverse environments and building strong customer relationships. Ideally you will bring:

• NZQA Level 5 qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (EST qualification preferred)
• Proven experience in industrial electronics, automation, and remote monitoring systems
