PTL | Structural & Fire is seeking a senior structural engineer to join a dynamic team of structural and fire engineers. The role will be based in Queenstown as a satellite to our Christchurch and Auckland offices, offering the opportunity to lead and mentor a local team.

The candidate should have an internationally recognised degree, 5+ NZ-based years of experience, and be chartered or on track to gain chartership, with a proven leadership track in design and construction oversight.

PTL are looking for a senior structural engineer to join our dynamic team of structural engineers and fire engineers. The role will be based in Queenstown as a satellite to our Christchurch and Auckland offices.

With over 50 years combined experience in applying state-of-the-art techniques in innovative and affordable structures, PTL engineers provide professional consulting services working in partnership with developers, architects, and construction companies to ensure the highest quality end results with real buildability.

While PTL work with all structural materials, we are leaders in mass timber design both in New Zealand and around the world. As inventors and key developers of the Pres-Lam structural system, and experts in large scale engineered timber buildings over the last 15 years, PTL are at the forefront of this emerging construction market.

Role Description

The successful candidate will initially be PTL’s only Queenstown‑based engineer, supporting a strong portfolio of active Queenstown projects. Working closely with our Christchurch and Auckland offices, the role offers the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of PTL’s Queenstown presence, with a view to build and mentor a local team of structural and fire engineers.

The successful candidate will:

• Have an internationally recognised tertiary degree in structural engineering
• Have at least 5 years' NZ based experience
• Be a chartered structural engineer or be on track to gain chartership
• Have a strong track record of leading the design and monitoring of construction projects
