Job summary

ConsultANZ is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil contractor in Wellington, New Zealand. This role suits an experienced professional with skills in project controls, cost forecasting, and reporting on major infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will manage the Candy cost system, oversee forecasting and commercial controls, and provide accurate financial and commercial support across the project lifecycle.

Main Duties:

• Manage project cost forecasting and commercial reporting
• Own and maintain the Candy cost management system.
• Monitor budgets, costs, and overall financial performance.
• Assess and manage project variations and cost control.
• Produce accurate cost forecasts and commercial reports.
• Support commercial planning and project decision-making.
• Work closely with Project Managers and the wider commercial team.
• Lead and manage a team of 3, providing guidance, workload allocation, performance oversight, and support to ensure effective commercial and cost management.
• Coordinate team activities and ensure deliverables are completed accurately and within project timelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on civil or infrastructure projects.
• Strong experience using Candy software for cost management, forecasting, and commercial reporting.
• Experience in project controls, commercial reporting, cost forecasting, and variation management.
• Proven team management experience, including the ability to lead, mentor, and manage a team of 3 or more people.
• Strong ability to coordinate workloads, monitor team performance, and ensure commercial deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
• Knowledge of NZS 3910, JDE, and TOC contracts is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
