Job summary

Alpha Recruitment – Wellington Central, North Island seeks an experienced policy professional to join a small, supportive policy team working on complex issues affecting communities and families. You will lead significant policy projects, develop high-quality advice for Ministers, and contribute to legislative processes, while engaging iwi, Māori organisations and other partners.

Qualifications

• Strong central government policy experience.
• Ability to deliver high-quality advice to Ministers and senior leaders.
• Experience working through Cabinet and parliamentary processes.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex policy projects from problem definition and analysis through to recommendations and implementation.
• Develop clear, robust and compelling policy advice for Ministers and senior decision-makers.
• Prepare high-quality policy products, including briefings and advice for Cabinet and senior officials.
• Contribute to legislative and cross-government work programmes.
• Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including iwi and Māori organisations, government agencies, community organisations and other partners.
• Bring the voices and experiences of families and whānau into policy development.
• Consider the implications of policy proposals for Māori, Pacific peoples and disabled people.
• Apply evidence, data, research and a range of analytical approaches to identify practical, fit-for-purpose options.
• Coach and support less experienced policy colleagues and contribute to building capability across the team.
