Job summary

Ko tōu ake mahi - What you'll do

As a Senior Policy Analyst in Strategy and Policy | Te Pou Rautaki, you'll work on some of the health sector's most complex and high-profile issues, providing trusted advice that informs Ministers and government decisions to progress the Ministry's work implementing the Government's Response to the Royal Commission's Report into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions, focusing on workforce issues. You'll collaborate with experts across the health system, influence strategic direction, and play a key role in delivering policies that create lasting impact for communities across Aotearoa. This is an opportunity to lead meaningful work, grow policy capability, and contribute to a more equitable health system.

  • Lead and contribute to complex policy projects, delivering high-quality advice on the Ministry's workforce work improvements for its response to the Royal Commission's Report into Historical Abuse.
  • Apply the full policy development process, from problem definition and analysis through to implementation and evaluation.
  • Draft policy papers, legislation, guidelines, briefings and other advice to support government decision-making on workforce issues in response to the Royal Commission's Report into Historical Abuse.
  • Lead projects and build strong relationships across the Ministry, health sector and wider government to achieve outcomes.
  • Mentor and support colleagues, helping grow policy capability while ensuring work reflects equity and Te Tiriti obligations.
  • Experience developing policy and providing high-quality advice on complex issues.
  • A strong understanding of public policy and how government operates.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
  • The ability to analyse complex information and turn it into practical recommendations for decision-makers.
  • A track record of building trusted relationships and influencing stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
