Job summary

Sealord Group Ltd is seeking a 1st Marine Engineer for one of our Deep Sea Fishing vessels in New Zealand. You will be responsible for the mechanical and electrical systems, with rotations of 12 hours on/off and meals provided.

Applicants must hold MEC 5 or 4/3 qualifications and have proven experience on deep sea fishing vessels. The role offers a permanent position with crew rotation and career development opportunities onboard.

Qualifications

  • MEC 5 or 4/3 qualification with proven hands‑on experience.
  • Experience managing mechanical and electrical systems on vessels.
  • Strong problem solving and preventative maintenance mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee mechanical and electrical performance of propulsion, fishing, processing and ancillary systems.
  • Maintain safety standards and compliance on deep sea vessels.
  • Work with skipper and crew to ensure optimal vessel reliability.
