Job summary

Talley’s is seeking a Marine 2nd Engineer for our New Zealand site. You will report to the Chief Engineer, perform watchkeeping duties, and maintain ship machinery and structure with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Ideal candidates hold MEC5, have fishing vessel experience, and demonstrate high safety standards, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for the role. Great work environment and career growth opportunities at Talley’s.

About the role

We are looking for a Marine 2nd Engineer tojoin the team at our site. You will take direction from the Chief Engineer and beresponsible for carrying out watch keeping duties, maintenance of the ship'smachinery, equipment and structure.


As a Marine 2nd Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining high standards of Health and Safety practices and compliance
  • Carrying out engine room watchkeeping duties, ensuring safe and efficient operations
  • Operating, monitoring, and maintenance of comprehensive marine engineering Systems
  • Maintaining a high level of attention to detail and demonstrating a proactive approach to all duties

For this role, you’ll need:

  • MarineEngineer Class 5 Certificate of Competency (MEC5)
  • Previous experience as an engineer onboard a fishing vessel
  • A high standard and awareness to health and safety
  • Great attention to detail and a high level of enthusiasm
