Job summary

Sealord Group in Nelson, New Zealand, is seeking a 1st Marine Engineer for one of our Deep Sea Fishing vessels. The role requires experience onboard a Deep Sea Fishing Trawler and involves hands-on management of mechanical and electrical systems to keep the vessel operating safely and efficiently.

You will work 12 hours on, 12 hours off, with meals provided by our experienced cooks, and join a close-knit crew of 36–50 depending on the vessel.

Qualifications

• MEC 5 or 4/3 qualification required.
• Proven offshore engine room experience on deep-sea fishing vessels.
• Current Maritime Medical certificate or ability to pass one.
• Self-motivated with safety focus and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical and electrical performance of propulsion, fishing, processing and ancillary systems.
• Oversee preventative maintenance and safe operation on vessel.
• Support 12h on/12h off shift rotations and adhere to safety rules.
