Job summary

Sanford seeks self-employed crew for deep-sea fishing fleet based in Timaru or Tauranga. As a General Hand, you’ll spend long rotations at sea in onboard processing and occasional deck duties, with meals, Wi‑Fi, and varied duties across factory processing and deck work.

No prior fishing experience is required; the right attitude, physical stamina, and safety mindset are key traits for this diverse role aboard one of New Zealand’s largest deep-water fleets.

Qualifications

• No fishing experience required, attitude matters.
• Willingness to work in shifts at sea.
• Experience in seafood processing or deck work is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare seafood in onboard processing factory to world-class quality standards.
• Assist with deck operations when required and support crew as needed.
• Rotate through processing areas (trawlers, longliners, scampi vessels) to learn diverse skills.
