Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

  • Shape a trusted, unified reporting approach across the Auckland Council group
  • Lead reporting transformation, modernisation and self-service capability
  • Influence senior leaders and inspire a high-performing data team

As Senior Manager – Infrastructure Reporting, you’ll step into a high-influential leadership role focused on creating a trusted, unified source of reporting information across the Auckland Council group. Working across Auckland Council and its Council-Controlled Organisations, you’ll bring teams together to break down data silos, align reporting standards and ensure senior leaders can make confident decisions supported by accurate, consistent and high-quality intelligence.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead group-wide collaboration to align reporting frameworks, standards and data flows across Auckland Council and its Council-Controlled Organisations.
  • Develop and implement a strategic partnership model for reporting and metrics, while identifying opportunities to strengthen delivery through analytics, automation and machine learning.
  • Lead the transition away from legacy reporting and establish suitable technologies and methodologies that make trusted data more accessible through effective self-service reporting.
  • Champion reporting accuracy, data governance and quality controls while promoting innovation, best practice and continuous improvement across the Analytics function and wider council group.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of data professionals, partnering with business stakeholders, technology teams and external vendors to prioritise delivery and achieve shared organisational outcomes

We’re looking for an accomplished strategic and technical leader with extensive experience influencing senior stakeholders across large, complex organisations. You’ll bring strong expertise in reporting strategies, transformation and modern data technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, dbt and Fivetran, alongside visualisation platforms including Power BI or Tableau. With a solid understanding of data governance, quality and regulatory requirements, you’ll combine an Agile mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity, see the bigger picture and lead people confidently through change. Your communication, influencing and negotiation skills will help unite technical and non-technical stakeholders, manage competing priorities and inspire a high-performing team.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Significant experience in data and analytics within a data-mature organisation, including at least seven years in senior or technical leadership roles.
  • Extensive experience presenting to and influencing C-suite or general management stakeholders, while managing complex relationships and negotiating priorities across organisational boundaries.
  • Proven experience leading teams through the full data migration lifecycle and supporting the implementation of platforms and technologies within a modern data stack.
  • A relevant technical or professional degree in computer science, information technology, statistics, engineering or a comparable discipline, supported by experience transforming technical processes, methodologies and organisational capability.
