Job summary

Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities in Wellington is seeking a Senior Advisor to lead governance and reporting across our Architecture and Security function. You will coordinate governance processes, deliver insights into technology and cyber risk, and support informed decision-making at senior levels.

This role requires strong experience in PMO, risk management, and reporting, with hands-on skills in Power BI or similar tools.

Qualifications

  • Experience in governance, reporting, PMO, or risk management roles within technology, cybersecurity, or enterprise environments.
  • Understanding of enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, technology risk, and governance principles.
  • Proven experience producing high-quality reporting for senior leaders, executive teams, and Board-level audiences.
  • Knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks and governance within regulated, government, or public sector organisations.
  • Experience using reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI, or similar platforms, to develop meaningful dashboards and performance reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and communicate key risks and insights.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management, with the ability to collaborate across business and technology functions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Proactive, organised, and continuous improvement mindset.

Kæinga Ora is seeking a highly organised and influential Senior Advisor - Governance & Reporting to lead the coordination, reporting, and continuous improvement of governance practices across our Architecture & Security function. You will be responsible for managing governance processes, facilitating governance activities, and delivering high-quality reporting that provides meaningful insights into technology and cyber risk.
This is a key role responsible for ensuring technology and cyber risks are clearly understood, effectively communicated, and consistently governed through high-quality reporting, governance forums, and insight-driven decision support. You will play an important part in creating visibility of risk, supporting informed decision-making, and ensuring governance processes are aligned with enterprise risk frameworks and organisational priorities.
As the service owner for Architecture & Security governance coordination and reporting services, you will work closely with architecture, security, risk, and delivery teams to support effective oversight across Digital IT.

We're looking for a governance and reporting professional who can turn complex information into clear insights, support effective decision-making, and build strong relationships across technology and business teams.

Here’s what you will bring to the role:

  • Experience in governance, reporting, programme management office (PMO), or risk management roles within technology, cybersecurity, or enterprise environments
  • A sound understanding of enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, technology risk, and governance principles
  • Proven experience preparing high-quality reporting and insights for senior leaders, executive teams, and Board-level audiences
  • Knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks and governance practices, ideally within regulated, government, or public sector organisations
  • Experience using reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI, or similar platforms, to develop meaningful dashboards and performance reporting
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and communicate key risks and insights effectively
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate across business and technology functions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to a range of audiences
  • A proactive, organised, and continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on delivering high-quality governance and reporting outcomes
