Job summary

IAG Insurance is seeking a Manager, Technical Claims to lead the technical claims function across Broker and Specialist Claims. The role is based in New Zealand with locations in Auckland, Christchurch or Wellington.

You will oversee resolution of complex, high-value claims and act as the senior technical authority, guiding negotiations and settlements with brokers and industry partners. This is a permanent full-time leadership position within IAG's claims leadership team.

Qualifications

• Significant general insurance and claims leadership experience.
• Experience managing or directing complex, high-value or litigated claims.
• Ability to make timely, well-reasoned decisions in complex situations.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and build trusted relationships.
• Legal qualifications or substantial experience with claims litigation and insurance law are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for one of IAG's largest, most complex claims managed within the function.
• Ensure complex claims are managed with clear strategies, timely decisions and appropriate consideration of policy cover and financial exposure.
• Establish and maintain governance, quality assurance and review practices for complex claims and high-risk decisions.
• Build trusted relationships with senior broker contacts, insurers, reinsurers, customers, legal firms and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to strategic direction and performance of Broker and Specialist Claims including customer, partner, operational, financial and risk outcomes.
• Lead initiatives to improve technical capability, claim quality and process efficiency.
