Job summary

NextGen Mobile Repairs and Accessories is seeking an experienced IT Hardware Technician in Invercargill to diagnose, repair, configure and upgrade mobile phones, laptops, desktops and more. This hands-on role involves chip-level PCB repair and supervising daily workshop operations.

The position is permanent, full-time with a minimum of 32 hours per week and a pay rate of NZ$30.00–NZ$35.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.

Qualifications

• A Level 7 Diploma (NZQF) or above in IT, Computer Hardware, Electronics or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of practical repair and troubleshooting experience.
• Proven chip-level/PCB board repair and component replacement experience.
• Strong knowledge of hardware, operating systems, drivers and basic networking.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose hardware and software faults in mobile devices and computers using diagnostic tools.
• Assess damaged devices and determine repair options, costs and timeframes.
• Perform chip-level and component repairs on PCB/motherboards, including micro-soldering.
• Test repaired devices thoroughly and ensure correct operation before customer return.
• Oversee workshop operations and guide junior staff.
