Job summary

The University of Waikato ITS is seeking a Senior Digital Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement and continually improve core infrastructure across on‑premises and hybrid cloud environments. You will work across server, virtualization, storage and identity platforms, providing senior technical expertise for both on‑premises and cloud services.

You will also contribute to architecture decisions, automation initiatives, and service improvements while mentoring colleagues and supporting

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux and Windows Server platforms.
• Strong expertise in virtualization, preferably Nutanix.
• Experience with backup, recovery and resilience platforms.
• Automation, patching, security, and infrastructure lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain and improve core infrastructure.
• Work across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
• Provide senior technical leadership and mentoring.
• Contribute to automation initiatives and service improvements.
• Participate in an on-call roster (approx. eight times per year).
