Job summary

The University of Waikato is seeking a Senior Digital Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, maintain and continually improve the University’s core infrastructure across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.

You will work across server, virtualization, storage, backup and identity platforms, providing senior technical expertise to keep services secure, stable and aligned with operational and strategic needs.

Qualifications

A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Experience administering Linux Server and Windows Server platforms with virtualization expertise.
Strong communication, mentoring and leadership skills; ability to guide stakeholders and teams.

Responsibilities

Design and improve secure, resilient infrastructure across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
Provide senior technical leadership and mentoring within ITS.
Contribute to architectural decisions, automation initiatives and service improvements.
Support enterprise-wide infrastructure services across teaching, research and corporate functions; participate in on-call roster.
