Job summary

The University of Waikato seeks a Senior Digital Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement and continually improve the university's core infrastructure across on‑premises and hybrid cloud. You will manage server, virtualization, storage, backup and identity platforms, delivering secure, resilient services in a complex environment.

You will lead architecture decisions, drive automation, and mentor colleagues while coordinating with ITS to support teaching, research and corporate functions.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux Server and Windows Server environments.
• Strong expertise in virtualization, preferably Nutanix.
• Experience with backup, recovery and resilience platforms; security and patching.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain secure, resilient core infrastructure across on‑premises and hybrid cloud.
• Provide senior technical leadership and mentoring across ITS.
• Contribute to automation initiatives and architecture decisions; support enterprise services.
• Support on-call roster approximately eight times per year.
