Job summary

The University of Waikato ITS is seeking a Senior Digital Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, maintain and continually improve the University's core infrastructure across on‑premises and hybrid cloud platforms. You will work across server, virtualization, storage and identity, delivering secure, resilient services and guiding architecture decisions.

You will provide senior technical leadership, mentor colleagues, contribute to automation initiatives, and help grow infrastructure

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience required.
• Experience managing enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Strong virtualization, storage and cloud expertise.
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain and improve core infrastructure.
• Work across server, virtualization, storage, backup, cloud and identity.
• Provide senior technical leadership and mentoring.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, automation initiatives and project delivery.
• Participate in on-call roster (approx. eight times per year).
