Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Queenstown to contribute to grid modernization. You will design and implement solutions for the distribution network, work on substations, protection schemes, and integration of smart grid technologies.

The role requires 6+ years of experience, a bachelor's in electrical engineering, and proficiency with PSS/E/ETAP/CYME. You will collaborate with project teams on safety, standards, and schedule commitments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 6 years of experience in electrical engineering focused on power distribution and grid modernization.
Proficiency with electrical design and analysis software (PSS/E, ETAP, CYME).
Understanding of smart grid, SCADA systems, and substation automation.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and safety practices.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

Design and develop electrical systems for grid modernization projects including substations and distribution lines.
Perform engineering calculations such as load flow, short-circuit, and stability studies.
Manage project lifecycles from concept through commissioning and handover.
Collaborate with project managers, field crews, and other engineers for successful delivery.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
Investigate and resolve technical issues during design and construction of grid upgrades.
