Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for a leading geotechnical and environmental firm in Queenstown. You will lead site investigations, develop designs for foundations and earthworks, and oversee projects from inception to completion to ensure safety and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of relevant geotechnical experience in infrastructure/mining.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration desirable.
• Experience managing geotechnical projects including budgets and schedules.
• Proficiency in PLAXIS, GeoStudio or similar geotechnical software.
• Strong understanding of soil and rock mechanics and foundation engineering.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client and team interaction.
• Experience in Queenstown/Eastern Cape-like environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including planning, field supervision, and data analysis.
• Develop detailed geotechnical designs for foundations, retaining walls, embankments, and earth structures.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, recommendations, and specifications.
• Provide technical guidance to project teams, clients, and contractors.
• Oversee construction activities related to geotechnical works, ensuring quality and safety compliance.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for geotechnical hazards.
• Utilize advanced geotechnical software for analysis and modeling.
• Contribute to business development, proposals, and client liaison.
• Ensure adherence to codes, standards and best practices in geotechnical engineering.
