Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for a fully remote role focusing on civil infrastructure projects. The position supports Queenstown-area engagements with potential site visits; the successful candidate will plan, supervise site investigations, and develop robust foundation and ground-improvement designs.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of geotechnical experience, Pro.Eng./ECSA registration, and strong analytical skills to work autonomously in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is required.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant geotechnical experience with infrastructure focus.
• Experience designing foundations for bridges and large structures.
• Proficiency in GeoStudio, PLAXIS, or equivalent is essential.
• Strong understanding of soil and rock mechanics in civil engineering.
• Excellent report writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work remotely and coordinate with clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the geotechnical investigation and analysis for infrastructure projects.
• Design foundations, retaining walls, and earthworks, ensuring stability and performance.
• Develop and implement ground improvement strategies where necessary.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team on a remote basis, focusing on civil infrastructure projects in and around the Queenstown, Eastern Cape. This role involves providing expert geotechnical assessment and design services for a variety of projects, including roads, bridges, dams, and earthworks. You will be responsible for planning and supervising site investigations, interpreting complex geological data, and developing robust foundation and ground improvement solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical engineering principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work autonomously in a remote environment.
