Job summary

Beca in Hamilton is seeking a Senior Engineering Geologist or Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our geotechnical asset management team. The role focuses on applying sound judgment to plan and deliver projects, produce plans and reports, and guide investigations from site assessments through fieldwork.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, develop 2D/3D ground models, and provide practical remediation designs while building strong client relationships and contributing to project delivery

Qualifications

• Qualified Engineering Geologist (preferably with a relevant post graduate qualification) or Geotechnical Engineer with passion and good problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to learn and share knowledge, and enthusiasm to contribute to a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver projects using your knowledge and judgement.
• Produce plans, reports, proposals and specifications to meet client requirements.

• Scope and manage field investigations including drilling and lab testing to inform risk evaluation.

Senior Engineering Geologist Or Senior Geotechnical Engineer

To be part of our growth in the region, we are looking for a Senior Engineering Geologist or Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join us in Hamilton. This role will have a focus on geotechnical asset management. Every day will be different with new challenges but overall you will be responsible to:

Apply your knowledge and judgment to plan and deliver projects

Produce plans, reports, proposals and specifications to meet client requirements

Direct and undertake desk-based assessments of sites or site areas, including studies of aerial photographs, research and review of published data, to guide investigation and design for projects.

Scope and manage field investigations, including commissioning of drilling crews and organising laboratory testing to expand the understanding of a site or region or as a basis for hazard or risk evaluation.

Direct field investigations including field mapping, direction of drilling crews, detailed logging of boreholes, sampling and monitoring, hand augering and logging of test pits

Develop 2D and 3D ground models using available data to inform problem definition and design

Undertake computer-aided data analysis and evaluation, e.g. slope stability modelling.

Carry out field reconnaissance of sites featuring natural hazards through scheduled inspections or in response to slips, provide advice and develop designs for remediation solutions, working closely with the client to meet their objectives.

Present technical deliverables through clear written and oral communication

Work on projects from inception to completion, scoping, planning and resourcing effectively to deliver to programme and budget

Lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams across packages

Build strong internal and external relationships and assist senior members of the business to secure additional business opportunities.

You love to learn and share knowledge and are someone who can bring a fresh perspective. You are a qualified Engineering Geologist (preferably with a relevant post graduate qualification) or Geotechnical Engineer with passion and good problem-solving skills. Having recently completed a graduate programme in a similar consulting or contracting environment, you will also have an enquiring mind, be able to problem solve and think laterally.
