Job summary

Kiwibank is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to help build a modern cloud-based data platform in Wellington. You’ll work with a strong team to deliver solutions from requirements through production using Agile methods, writing robust code and tests, and contributing to CI/CD practices.

You will apply Python, Terraform, AWS, DBT, Snowflake and Airflow, with a focus on backend development, DevSecOps, data lake technologies and API development.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering data solutions from requirements to production using Scrum or another Agile framework.
• Strong development and testing capabilities in Python.
• Interest in data, backend development, and building solutions for engineers.
• Experience with DevSecOps and running what you build.
• Proficiency with cloud-based data platform technologies such as AWS, Terraform, Snowflake, Airflow and DBT.
• Experience supporting modern engineering practices across CI/CD, unit testing and as-code techniques.
• Experience with API development, Docker and data lake technologies.
• Interest in implementing AI solutions or enabling AI adoption within data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Deliver data platform solutions from requirements to production using Scrum or other Agile methods.
• Write code and tests, and contribute to CI/CD practices.
• Collaborate with engineers as your customers to deliver reliable data solutions.
• Support modern engineering practices across CI/CD, unit testing and as-code techniques.
• Contribute to API development, containerization with Docker, and data lake technologies.
• Explore and enable AI adoption within data platforms.
