Job summary

Kiwibank is seeking a Data Platform Engineer in Wellington to help deliver a modern cloud-based data platform. You’ll work with a strong team of engineers, writing code and tests, contributing to CI/CD, and enabling scalable data solutions from requirements through to production.

Experience with Python, Terraform, AWS, DBT, Snowflake and Airflow will support your success, alongside a collaborative, agile mindset and a focus on quality engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering data solutions from requirements to production using agile practices.
• Proficient in Python with strong coding and testing capabilities.
• Interest in data, backend development and cloud data platforms; DevSecOps experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

This role is for an Engineer, Data Platform who is passionate about building cloud based solutions and developing their engineering capability. You’ll be working with a strong team of engineers to help deliver a modern cloud based data platform, supporting Kiwibank’s purpose of making Kiwi better off. You’ll contribute to the delivery of a modern cloud based data platform, bringing strong engineering fundamentals, a passion for data and a collaborative mindset. This role is focused on delivering data solutions from requirements through to production using scrum, or another agile framework. You’ll write code and tests, contribute to CI/CD practices and work closely with other engineers to build and support high quality solutions. Experience with Python, Terraform, AWS, DBT, Snowflake and Airflow will support your success, along with an interest in backend development, DevSecOps, data lake technologies, API development, Docker and enabling AI adoption within data platforms.

For this role we’re looking for a data platform engineer who enjoys building cloud based solutions, writing quality code and working collaboratively with engineering teams. We would love to hear from you if you have experience in the following:

• Proven experience contributing to data solutions from requirements to production using scrum or another agile framework
• Confident in Python or a similar language, with sound development and testing capability
• Strong interest in data, backend development and building solutions for engineers
• Experienced in working within DevSecOps environments and supporting the solutions you build
• Proficient in cloud based data platform technologies such as AWS, Terraform, Snowflake, Airflow and DBT
• Experienced in modern engineering practices across CI/CD, unit testing and as code techniques
• Confident in working with API development, Docker and data lake technologies
• Strong interest in implementing AI solutions or enabling AI adoption within data platforms
