About the Role

Our client, a prominent educational consultancy firm, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Curriculum Developer to lead the design and implementation of Further Education and Training (FET) phase curriculum for various educational institutions across South Africa. This is a remote-first position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. The successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and refining comprehensive curriculum frameworks, learning materials, and assessment strategies aligned with national educational standards (CAPS) and innovative pedagogical approaches. The role requires a deep understanding of the FET phase, strong leadership skills, and a passion for transforming educational content to meet the evolving needs of learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, review, and revision of FET phase curriculum frameworks and subject syllabi.
• Design and create engaging and effective learning materials, including textbooks, teacher guides, digital resources, and assessment tools.
• Ensure curriculum alignment with the South African National Curriculum (CAPS) and other relevant educational policies.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts, educators, and stakeholders to gather input and ensure curriculum relevance and quality.
• Develop robust assessment strategies and tools to measure student learning outcomes effectively.
• Provide training and support to educators on the implementation of new curricula and teaching methodologies.
• Conduct research on educational best practices, emerging trends, and technological innovations to inform curriculum design.
• Manage curriculum development projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented curricula through feedback mechanisms and performance data analysis.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Education, Curriculum Studies, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in curriculum development, with a significant focus on the FET phase (Grades 10-12).
• In-depth knowledge of the South African CAPS curriculum across multiple subject areas.
• Proven experience in designing diverse learning materials and assessment instruments.
• Strong understanding of pedagogical theories and instructional design principles.
• Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively independently and lead a remote team.
• Proficiency in using educational technology and digital content creation tools.
• Experience in teacher training and professional development is a plus.
