Job summary

Transpower New Zealand Limited (TPNZ) is seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant for the Wellington Head Office Corporate Services team. You will own subsidiary accounts and reporting, ensuring accuracy of the General Ledger and balance sheet while supporting group reporting and tax compliance.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge and application of New Zealand and International Financial Reporting Standards, including IFRS 17.
• Financial systems knowledge with controls and reconciliations.
• Process-mapping and documentation skills to translate accounting requirements into effective processes and controls.
• Intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and competency across Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint).
• Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with attention to detail, and sound analytical and numeracy skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce subsidiary financial statements, disclosure notes and Board papers with commentary on performance, movements, risks and matters requiring Board attention.
• Support and provide cover for the Group Financial Accountant in group reporting, including half-year and full-year statements.
• Assist income tax returns, provisional tax and Group tax calculations; manage external audits for subsidiary accounts.
• Own monthly and annual Treasury (CFIS) information for submission to the Crown Accounts.
• Deliver external agency reporting including Reserve Bank of New Zealand and Statistics NZ returns; work with actuaries on IFRS 17 provisions.
• Prepare accurate month-end journals, balance sheet reconciliations and management accounts; maintain General Ledger structure and improve processes and controls.
