Job summary

Foodstuffs South Island Limited is seeking a Senior Cloud Data Engineer in New Zealand to hands‑on across cloud infrastructure and data engineering, shaping our GCP and analytics capabilities.

You will design, build, and improve secure, scalable cloud data solutions aligned with enterprise standards while modernising legacy workloads and collaborating across teams using BigQuery, Dataform, dbt, and Terraform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field.
• Strong experience with GCP services (IAM, networking, etc.).
• Experience in data warehousing and ELT/ETL patterns.
• Production experience with BigQuery or similar cloud-native warehouse.
• IaC experience, preferably Terraform.
• Familiarity with Dataform and dbt for SQL-based transformations.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and evolution of the GCP cloud platform and data engineering architecture.
• Collaborate with Public Cloud, Architecture, and Cybersecurity teams on infrastructure and data changes.
• Uplift engineering standards across infrastructure, data pipelines, models, and dev practices.
• Design, build, and maintain GCP infrastructure including IAM, environments, networking.
• Build data transformation pipelines and analytics data models using Dataform, dbt, or equivalent on BigQuery.
• Improve BigQuery warehouse design, performance, and cost management.
• Work with stakeholders to deliver solutions within scope, quality, and timeframes.
