Job summary

Foodstuffs South Island is seeking a Senior Cloud Data Engineer to own hands‑on cloud infrastructure and data engineering across GCP and analytics capabilities. You’ll design, build, and improve secure, scalable cloud/data solutions in line with enterprise standards, while modernising legacy workloads.

You will collaborate with Public Cloud, Architecture and Cybersecurity teams to deliver infrastructure, data platforms and access changes, and contribute to governance and engineering standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field.
• Strong experience designing cloud platform services (IAM, environments, networking).
• Practical experience with BigQuery or equivalent cloud‑native data warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and evolution of the GCP cloud platform and data engineering architecture.
• Collaborate with Public Cloud, Architecture, and Cybersecurity teams on infra and data platform changes.
• Define and embed engineering standards across infrastructure, data pipelines, models and development practices.
• Design, build, and maintain GCP infrastructure including IAM and networking using Terraform or similar IaC tools.
• Build data transformation pipelines and analytical models using Dataform or dbt on BigQuery.
• Contribute to BigQuery warehouse design, optimisation, performance tuning and cost management.
