Chubb Life Insurance New Zealand is seeking a Senior Claims Consultant to own Disability Income and TPD claims from decision through to return-to-work outcomes. You will plan rehab with doctors, make decisions within delegated authority, and back each with clear reasoning.

This role is hybrid in Wellington with opportunities to work closely with specialists, advisers and providers while guiding Case Managers through challenging conversations. Your experience will be genuinely utilised.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Income Protection, rehab or similar
• Experience in life insurance claims, ideally 3 years case managing IP claims
• Ability to read and interpret medical reports
• Proven ability to engage with doctors, specialists, lawyers and IFSO
• Clear, confident communication with empathy for vulnerable customers

Responsibilities

• Deciding Disability Income and TPD claims within delegated authority
• Running complex return-to-work claims with Active Case Management
• Building rehab plans with providers, with milestones and cost focus
• Keeping customers and advisers informed with regular proactive calls
• Analysing complex financial information to ensure accurate assessments
• Supporting Case Managers and presenting tough cases to the claims committee

Chubb Life is aiming to be New Zealand's number one life insurer, and how we handle claims is a big part of getting there. As Senior Claims Consultant, you'll own a portfolio of Disability Income and TPD claims, from the decision through to getting people back to work.

Job Description

This isn't pushing paper. You'll use Active Case Management to plan rehab with doctors and providers, make decisions within your delegated authority, and back every one with clear reasoning.

You'll have the authority to make decisions, not just recommend them. You'll work the complex cases alongside specialists, advisers and providers, and guide our Case Managers through the hard conversations. It's a role where your experience actually gets used.

Location: Wellington, Auckland (Takapuna)

Role Type: Full time, Permanent

What You'll Own

• Deciding Disability Income and TPD claims within your delegated authority
• Running complex return to work claims with Active Case Management
• Building rehab plans with providers, with clear milestones and a sharp eye on cost
• Keeping customers and advisers in the loop with regular, proactive calls
• Analysing complex financial information to get assessments right
• Backing our Case Managers and taking tough cases to claims committee

Qualifications

What you'll bring

• At least 5 years in Income Protection, rehab or a similar role
• Life insurance claims experience, ideally 3 years case managing IP claims
• Solid Active Case Management and rehab know how
• A medical qualification or proven ability to read and interpret medical reports
• Experience working with doctors, specialists, lawyers and IFSO
• Clear, confident communication with empathy for vulnerable customers
