Job summary

Chubb Life NZ is seeking a Senior Claims Consultant to own a portfolio of Disability Income and TPD claims, from decision to return-to-work. You will plan rehab with physicians, apply delegated authority, and support Case Managers through complex conversations. This role leverages extensive IP claims experience in a collaborative environment.

Location: Wellington and Auckland (Takapuna) with hybrid work. Requires strong medical literacy, empathy for clients, and proactive communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Income Protection, rehab or similar role.
• Experience with life insurance claims and IP claims management.
• Ability to read and interpret medical reports.

Responsibilities

• Decide Disability Income and TPD claims within delegated authority.
• Run complex return-to-work claims with Active Case Management.
• Build rehab plans with providers and track milestones and costs.
• Keep customers and advisers informed with regular calls.
• Analyze complex financial information for accurate assessments.

About the opportunity

Chubb Life is aiming to be New Zealand's number one life insurer, and how we handle claims is a big part of getting there. As Senior Claims Consultant, you'll own a portfolio of Disability Income and TPD claims, from the decision through to getting people back to work.

This isn't pushing paper. You'll use Active Case Management to plan rehab with doctors and providers, make decisions within your delegated authority, and back every one with clear reasoning.

You'll have the authority to make decisions, not just recommend them. You'll work the complex cases alongside specialists, advisers and providers, and guide our Case Managers through the hard conversations. It's a role where your experience actually gets used.

What you'll own

• Deciding Disability Income and TPD claims within your delegated authority
• Running complex return to work claims with Active Case Management
• Building rehab plans with providers, with clear milestones and a sharp eye on cost
• Keeping customers and advisers in the loop with regular, proactive calls
• Analysing complex financial information to get assessments right
• Backing our Case Managers and taking tough cases to claims committee

What you'll bring

• At least 5 years in Income Protection, rehab or a similar role
• Life insurance claims experience, ideally 3 years case managing IP claims
• Solid Active Case Management and rehab know how
• A medical qualification or proven ability to read and interpret medical reports
• Experience working with doctors, specialists, lawyers and IFSO
• Clear, confident communication with empathy for vulnerable customers
