Job summary

Westpac New Zealand is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to shape meaningful change across product, operations, technology, risk and design. You will lead analysis from discovery through delivery, bringing structure to ambiguity and guiding teams to clear outcomes.

This hands-on role requires facilitation, collaboration with product owners, engineers, testers and designers, and a strong focus on customer value and quality delivery across multiple delivery approaches.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior-level Business Analysis experience delivering complex change.
• Broad toolkit across discovery, requirements, process, data, systems and impact analysis.
• Experience across Agile, Waterfall and Kanban delivery approaches.
• Ability to explain complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience coaching analysts and improving BA practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery and analysis to define the problem, outcomes, scope, assumptions and measures of success.
• Elicit, analyse, prioritise and document business, customer, process, data and system needs with fit-for-purpose techniques.
• Translate needs into clear business and functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, models and traceability.
• Analyse current and future-state processes, customer journeys, business rules, information flows and system impacts.
• Partner with Product Owners, delivery leads, engineers, testers, designers and change practitioners to refine options.
• Facilitate workshops and decision-making forums to surface perspectives and build shared understanding.
• Identify dependencies, risks, gaps and operational impacts early and plan for readiness and adoption.
• Support option assessment, supplier evaluation, business cases and governance artefacts as required.
• Keep analysis current, proportionate and accessible so teams can make informed decisions.
• Provide thought leadership and influence decision-making with data and customer perspectives.
• Coach and mentor analysts and contribute to continuous improvement of BA practices.
