Job summary

Genesis Energy NZ is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to drive business analysis across data, analytics, automation and AI initiatives. You’ll lead discovery, shape requirements and ensure solutions are practical, valuable and adopted across Genesis.

You will connect business needs with data and technology solutions, lead analysis independently, and collaborate with multidisciplinary delivery teams to deliver outcomes that matter.

Job description

What you’ll do:

Embedded within our Data & AI team, you’ll take ownership of business analysis across initiatives that use data, analytics, automation and AI to solve real business problems. You’ll lead discovery, shape requirements and help ensure solutions are practical, valuable and successfully adopted across Genesis.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead discovery to define business problems, opportunities, outcomes and Data & AI use cases.
• Translate complex business needs into clear requirements, user stories, process designs, acceptance criteria and delivery artefacts.
• Partner with business sponsors, product owners and technical teams to prioritise requirements based on value, feasibility and strategic alignment.
• Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions, bridging technical and non-technical perspectives to build clarity and alignment.
• Support testing, business readiness and adoption while maintaining strong requirements traceability and alignment with governance, privacy, security and responsible AI standards.

What you’ll bring:

We're looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst who can bring structure to complexity, build trusted stakeholder relationships and connect business needs with data and technology solutions. You’ll be comfortable leading analysis independently while working closely with multidisciplinary delivery teams.

You will also bring;

• Strong Business Analyst experience across technology, data, analytics, digital or transformation initiatives.
• Proven capability leading discovery, requirements definition, process mapping and stakeholder workshops across complex groups.
• Experience creating user stories, acceptance criteria and delivery documentation for Agile or hybrid teams.
• Strong analytical, communication and influencing skills across both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience supporting testing, implementation and business readiness; exposure to Data & AI, Databricks, Azure or Generative AI would be advantageous.
