Job summary

Coromandel District Council is seeking an experienced Building Control Officer Processing to join our Building Unit in Thames. You will assess and process building consent applications, providing sound technical advice and ensuring compliance.

Based in Coromandel lifestyle, you will manage timeframes, maintain records, and deliver excellent customer service while supporting continuous improvement and stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience in Building Consent Processing or Building Control within a NZ local government environment.
• Qualification in Building Control or currently working towards this.
• Sound knowledge of the Building Act 2004 and NZ Building Code.

Responsibilities

• Assess and process building consent applications under the Building Act 2004.
• Review plans and supporting documentation, ensuring compliance.
• Provide technical advice to applicants, builders, architects, engineers and other stakeholders.
• Manage consent applications efficiently within statutory timeframes.
• Maintain accurate records in Council systems and documentation.
• Deliver excellent customer service and respond to building-related enquiries.
• Contribute to QA, audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Build strong working relationships with customers, industry professionals and internal teams.
