Job summary

BNZ in Wellington seeks a Senior Automation Tester to join the Core Ledger Replacement; lead test strategy, architecture, and quality practices across multiple systems and teams to support a major transformation programme.

You will influence standards, champion modern testing practices, and mentor team members while delivering high-quality, maintainable solutions through to September 2028.

Qualifications

• Proven capability in designing and implementing test strategies, frameworks, and tooling across backend, frontend, or integration domains.
• Leadership in automation strategy and solution design with minimal supervision.
• Experience with REST Assured, JMeter, and practical quality engineering.
• Designing resilient, scalable testing solutions embedding functional and non-functional quality considerations.

• Lead test strategy, automation architecture, and quality practices across multiple systems, products, and teams.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, helping to uplift testing capability, strengthen automation skills, and foster a culture of learning and collaboration.
• Balance delivery priorities with quality outcomes, making informed decisions that support both short-term objectives and long-term sustainability.
• Champion robust test design, reliable automation, and effective quality governance, ensuring that solutions are resilient, maintainable, and fit for purpose.

What technical skills are required for this role?

• Proven capability in designing and implementing test strategies, frameworks, and tooling across one or more technology domains, including backend, frontend, mobile, integration, or performance engineering.
• Leadership in automation strategy and solution design with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgement in balancing quality, risk, and delivery outcomes.
• A sound understanding of automation test strategy, strong quality engineering experience, and practical knowledge of tools such as REST Assured and JMeter.
• Experience in Designing and delivering resilient, scalable testing solutions that embed both functional and non-functional quality considerations throughout the software development lifecycle.
