Job summary

Bank of New Zealand is seeking a Senior Treasury Associate to strengthen stress testing capabilities and support valuation initiatives. You will help upgrade Enterprise Stress Testing and Valuations, coordinate across BNZ and NAB, and drive improvements in risk and funding processes.

You will work with Finance, Risk and Treasury partners to deliver optimal outcomes, while building knowledge of BNZ balance sheet, products and strategies. A proactive approach and strong data skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' relevant experience in financial services or understanding of banking regulatory environment.
• Understanding of bank balance sheets, banking products and the broader financial services industry.
• Ability to analyse large, complex data sets and translate detail into insights.
• Proactive mindset with ability to identify issues and suggest improvements.

Responsibilities

• Support upgrade of Enterprise Stress Testing and Valuations capabilities (system upgrades, data enhancements, process improvements).
• Coordinate CPS900 Valuations and Funding-in-Resolution across BNZ and NAB.
• Assist with enhancing existing processes and supporting financial models; investigate issues and implement solutions.
• Manage risk and ensure policy/compliance, perform controls and escalate issues as needed.
• Drive development of Funding-in-Resolution and valuations solutions from BNZ perspective.
• Collaborate with Finance, Risk and Treasury teams to deliver optimal outcomes.
• Develop knowledge of BNZ balance sheet structure, products and strategies.
• Support Treasury's business and operational risk requirements.
• Review and improve Treasury procedures as part of continual improvement.

This is a rare opportunity to join BNZ’s Treasury team in a role that will help strengthen how we prepare for and respond to complex financial scenarios. As Senior Treasury Associate, you’ll contribute to important work focused on making stress testing faster, more responsive and more useful in a crisis, while helping improve how scenarios are tested and used to support business decision‑making, risk appetite settings and BNZ’s broader resolution planning capability.

What will you be doing?

Support the upgrade of Enterprise Stress Testing and Valuations capabilities, including system upgrades, data enhancements and process improvements.

Support the coordination and delivery of the CPS900 Valuations and Funding‑in‑Resolution agenda across BNZ and NAB.

Assist with enhancing of existing processes and supporting financial models, investigating known issues and implementing solutions.

Proactively manage risk, meet policy and compliance requirements, perform controls, follow relevant processes and procedures, and escalates events, issues or breaches as identified.

Help drive development of new Funding‑in‑Resolution and valuations solutions from a BNZ perspective.

Work closely with Finance, Risk and Treasury partners across BNZ and NAB to deliver optimal outcomes.

Develop strong knowledge of BNZ balance sheet structure, products, and strategies.

Support the Treasury business and operational risk requirements.

Continually looking to review, document and improve procedures as part of the continual improvement of the Treasury functions.

What will you bring?

We’re looking for someone who is curious, analytical and confident working with detail. You’ll enjoy solving problems, improving processes and building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business.

You’ll also be able to take complex information and explain it clearly, helping others understand key insights and make well‑informed decisions. You will bring:

Around 3–5 years’ relevant experience in financial services, or a strong understanding of the banking regulatory environment.

An understanding of bank balance sheets, banking products and the broader financial services industry.

Confidence working with large, complex data sets and turning detail into useful insights.

Strong Excel capability, with SQL experience highly advantageous.

A proactive mindset, with the confidence to identify issues, suggest improvements and look for better ways of working.

Experience with Treasury FTP or ALM systems would be a bonus.

A tertiary qualification in Finance, Business, Legal or Information Systems would be desirable.
