Job summary

Bank of New Zealand is seeking experienced Senior API Developers to join our Core Ledger Replacement programme in Wellington. You will help rebuild the engine room of BNZ, delivering modern cloud-based solutions, scalable APIs, and reliable production systems in an agile environment.

As a senior member, you will own delivery of complex features, provide technical leadership, mentor others, and collaborate across teams to balance speed with quality.

We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Senior API Developers to join our Core Ledger Replacement domain and be part of a once-in-a-generation transformation programme. As a senior member of the team, you will drive the delivery of complex, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions. This is a fixed-term opportunity through to September 2028.

What are some of the day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete?

What technical skills are required for this role?

We're looking for strong engineering experience, with deep expertise in one or more of these technical domains (Java, Springboot, Rest API's). You'll bring a strong track record of leading complex technical work across systems or teams, taking ownership of large-scale features or platforms from design through to deployment, support, and continuous improvement.
