Job summary

Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) in Wellington seeks an experienced Senior API Developer to join our Core Ledger Replacement program. You will lead the delivery of complex features, design scalable systems, and own on-call production support within your domain, helping ensure reliability and performance.

This fixed-term role runs through to September 2028, offering flexible working and a collaborative, high-impact engineering culture focused on cloud-based core banking transformation.

What technical skills are required for this role?

We’re looking for strong engineering experience, with deep expertise in one or more of these technical domains (Java, Springboot, Rest API’s). You’ll bring a strong track record of leading complex technical work across systems or teams, taking ownership of large-scale features or platforms from design through to deployment, support, and continuous improvement.
