Job summary

About the opportunity

You will play a key role in delivering high quality litigation and dispute resolution services to a diverse range of clients including businesses and individuals. Working closely with partners, you will advise on complex commercial disputes across a broad range of matters including contractual disputes, insolvency issues, breach of trust claims, cross border disputes and urgent applications for relief. The role also involves representing clients in public law disputes, regulatory matters and company governance conflicts.

You will manage files from an early stage through to resolution, undertaking legal research, preparing pleadings and court documentation, managing discovery processes and providing clear and commercially focused advice. This position offers the opportunity to lead matters, appear in courts and tribunals and build strong client relationships while contributing to the continued growth and capability of the litigation team.

About you

You are an experienced litigation lawyer admitted to practice in New Zealand with around eight or more years post qualification experience and a strong background in general litigation. You bring excellent drafting, advocacy and analytical skills together with sound judgement and a practical approach to resolving complex disputes.

You are confident working independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment. You build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues, communicate complex issues clearly and maintain a high level of attention to detail in your work. You are motivated to take ownership of matters, contribute to business development and continue growing your expertise within a leading litigation practice.
