Job summary

Anthony Harper, based in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), is seeking a Senior Solicitor or Associate to join its corporate advisory team. You will deliver high-quality, commercially minded legal advice on corporate matters, including M&A, private equity, and complex contracts, across a diverse client base.

You will work closely with partners and senior lawyers, developing client relationships, and playing a key role in business development within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Admitted to practise in New Zealand.
• At least three years of post-qualification experience in corporate/commercial law.
• Strong drafting skills and ability to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, commercially astute legal advice across corporate and commercial matters.
• Advise on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, complex contracts, and shareholder/joint venture arrangements.
• Collaborate with partners and senior lawyers, manage own workstreams with increasing autonomy, and contribute to business development initiatives.

About the opportunity

Our corporate advisory team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Solicitor or Associate based in Tāmaki Makaurau. In this role, you will play an important part in delivering high quality and commercially astute legal advice to a diverse client base across a broad range of corporate and commercial matters. Your work will include advising on domestic and cross border mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, complex commercial contracts and shareholder/joint venture arrangements.

From the outset, you will work closely with partners and senior lawyers, contributing to complex client solutions while also managing your own workstreams with increasing autonomy. You will have the opportunity to build strong client relationships, contribute to business development initiatives, and play a key role in delivering practical, client focused outcomes that reflect both legal excellence and commercial insight.

About you

You are admitted to practise in New Zealand and bring at least three years of post qualification experience within a corporate or commercial legal team. You have strong drafting skills and are confident working both independently and collaboratively, delivering high quality work that meets client expectations.

You take a commercially pragmatic approach to legal advice and are able to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and colleagues. You demonstrate sound judgement and problem solving ability, build positive working relationships, and are motivated to continue developing your technical capability and professional skills within a supportive team environment.
