Job summary

Anthony Harper in Ōtautahi/Christchurch seeks a commercial property lawyer to provide high quality, commercially astute advice across the full spectrum of property matters, including investment, development, acquisitions and leasing.

You will work closely with partners and clients from an early stage, take ownership of matters, and have the opportunity to supervise and help develop junior lawyers in a supportive environment that values wellbeing and client service.

Qualifications

• Admitted to practise in New Zealand and have 5+ years' experience in commercial property.
• Experience in development, investment, leasing or property finance is valuable but not required to cover every area.
• A commercial and pragmatic approach with the ability to work autonomously and provide excellent client service.

About the opportunity

Our commercial property team acts on complex, high-value transactions across New Zealand. Our work includes major development and urban regeneration projects, investment acquisitions and disposals, significant leasing portfolios and transactions involving hotels and retirement villages. We advise an impressive client base including NZX listed companies, developers, institutional and private investors, major landlords, financiers, and property based operating businesses.

Based in Ōtautahi, you'll provide high quality, commercially astute legal advice across the full spectrum of commercial property matters, including property investment, development, acquisitions and leasing.

You'll work closely with partners and clients from an early stage, helping to structure transactions, identify the issues that matter commercially and carry them through to completion. You'll have genuine responsibility, direct client contact and the support to keep extending your technical and commercial judgement.

About you

You'll be admitted to practise in New Zealand and have 5+ years' experience, with a strong grounding in commercial property. You may already have experience in development, investment, leasing or property finance, but you do not need to have covered every area.

A commercial and pragmatic approach comes naturally to you, and you're confident working autonomously. You combine careful drafting and technical discipline with practical, responsive advice and providing an exceptional client experience.

You are comfortable taking ownership of matters and working autonomously with appropriate support. You build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues, communicate clearly and enjoy contributing to a high-performing team. Depending on your level, you'll also have the opportunity to supervise and help develop junior lawyers.
