Job summary

Anthony Harper seeks an experienced lawyer with 5+ years’ PQE in financial services to join our Tāmaki Makaurau office as an associate or senior associate. You will work with banks, insurers, fund managers and other participants, handling diverse matters from new product offerings to licensing, regulation and investment funds.

About the opportunity

Our Financial Services team is looking for an experienced lawyer to join our Tāmaki Makaurau office as an associate or senior associate.

This is an opportunity to further develop your career in a fast moving and evolving area of law, working with a diverse range of financial services clients including banks, insurers, fund managers and other participants in the sector. Our clients range from some of New Zealand's largest financial institutions right down to specialist providers and new market entrants.

You’ll work across a broad range of interesting and complex matters, including new financial product offerings, licensing and regulatory matters, investment funds, FinTech, and emerging financial services issues. You will also have some exposure to contentious regulatory matters in the financial services sector.

You’ll work closely with experienced partners (principally with Nick Summerfield, who is independently recognised as a leading lawyer in the sector) and have plenty of direct client contact, with the opportunity to take ownership of matters and contribute to the continued growth of the practice. We offer you the ability to do the same top-tier quality work you'd do in a larger firm, but in a smaller team where you can have a bigger impact.

About you

You'll have 5+ years’ PQE and experience in financial services, ideally including experience in another specialist financial services practice or a larger financial institution.

You’ll be commercially minded and technically strong, with excellent drafting and communication skills and the confidence to build trusted relationships with clients. You’ll enjoy taking ownership of your work while being part of a collaborative team and supporting the development of more junior lawyers as well as our business development activities.
